Red Beach

Red Beach is one of the most unique and beautiful beaches in Greece. The stretch of sand gets its name from the rare red and black volcanic sand and high stone cliffs, which create a playful contrast to the clear turquoise waters. The beach itself is small and tends to get crowded in the European summer months, so if you enjoy more space on the sand, you may want to admire the colorful beauty from above. Regardless, the scenery at Red Beach, from every angle, is as picture-worthy as it gets.

Getting There

Red Beach is located 11 km from the capital city of Fira. Several buses depart Fira toward the beach, but we recommend you go by rental car to be closer to the cliffs. If you are flying into Santorini Airport, you’ll only have to take a short 25-minute drive to Red Beach. Travelers can also fly into Milos, where you can then find a flight to Santorini, or you can fly to Athens and cruise through the Aegean Sea to your destination. Canadians can find direct flights to Milos from Winnipeg, Vancouver, Toronto, and Thunder Bay.
